City of Sparta Awarded the Community of the Year for 2019

On September 11, 2019, the Upper Cumberland Development District had a ribbon cutting at their new location, 1104 England Dr Cookeville, TN 38501. This was also their Annual meeting for the UCDD. During this meeting the City of Sparta was presented an Award for the Community of the Year for 2019. We were believed to represent Exceptional Achievement in the Field of Economic Development.

Sparta and White County are key players in the Highlands Initiative, an ambitious economic and community development program of the Highlands of Tennessee, a region that also includes Jackson, Putnam and Overton counties. Together, we share the elevation of geography and economics.
